"PEACE, BE STILL"

"PEACE, BE STILL"

"And the same day, when the even was come, he [Jesus] saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side.

And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship
And there were also with him other little ships.

And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full.

And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him,    and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?

And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still.  And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?

And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this,      that even the wind and the sea obey him?" Mark 4:35-41 (KJV)

That awesome act of Jesus stilling the wind and the sea was a fulfillment of Psalm 89. The heavens were giving testimony that Jesus Christ of Nazareth is The Son of the
Highest!   He is the promised seed of David  whose throne is established for all generations to rule and protect His people.  The Psalm reads ...

"I will sing of the mercies of the LORD for ever:  with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations.

For I have said, Mercy shall be built up for ever: thy faithfulness shalt thou establish in the very heavens.

***I have made a covenant with my chosen, I have sworn unto David my servant,

Thy seed will I establish for ever, and build up thy throne to all generations. Selah. And the heavens shall praise thy wonders, O LORD: thy faithfulness also in the      congregation of the saints.

For who in the heaven can be compared unto the LORD? who among the sons of the mighty can be likened unto the LORD?

God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints, and to be had in reverence of all them that are about him.

O LORD God of hosts, who is a strong LORD like unto thee? or to thy faithfulness round about thee?

THOU RULEST THE RAGING OF THE SEA: WHEN THE WAVES THEREOF ARISE,          THOU STILLEST THEM." *** Ps 89:1-9 (KJV)

Children of God,  threatening circumstances will rise up against us; but let us not be afraid.  With faith in his mercy and power we can say:

"Our shield is of the LORD, and our king is of the Holy One of Israel."                   Psalm 89:18
