AMAZING GRACE
AMAZING GRACE

"Amazing Grace" was written by John Newton, a converted
slave-trader of the 18th Century.  John was able to give his
testimony of God's "Amazing Grace" through the simple
heart-felt words of his song.  Its message has made the song
one of the best loved songs of Christianity ...

"Amazing Grace how sweet the sound that saved a wretch
like me! ... I once was lost but now am found, was blind but now
I see. ... 'Twas grace that taught my heart TO FEAR and grace
MY FEARS RELIEVED. ...  How precious did that grace
appear the hour I first believed.

Through many dangers, toils, and snares, I have already come.
... 'Tis grace has brought me safe thus far, and grace will lead me
home. ...  The LORD has promised good to me, His word my hope
secures. ... He will my shield and portion be as long as life
endures."

Donna writes:

John Newton's testimony is my testimony, too!  In my
personal experience, God's amazing grace first taught my
heart TO FEAR
when He opened my eyes to see myself a
lost sinner who was already condemned to death for my
sins.

"... by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil."
                                     Prov 16:6 (KJV)

God's amazing grace drew me to the cross of Jesus Christ
for forgiveness --and the blood of Jesus cleanses me
from  all unrighteousness.

"The blood of Jesus Christ, his Son cleanseth us from all
sin ... If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to
forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all
      unrighteousness."  1John 1:7-9)

After I was  forgiven (Justified), I cried out to God for the
The Spirit of Grace so that I  would have the enabling
power to obey Him.  With all my heart, I wanted to obey
Him --because of His great act of love.

"For this is the love of God, THAT WE KEEP HIS
     COMMANDMENTS."  1 John 5:3

Each day, as I choose to obey Jesus, I have the perfect love
that casts out fear ...

"Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have
boldness in the day of judgment:  BECAUSE AS HE
IS, SO ARE WE IN THIS WORLD."  1John 4:17

And then,  as the words of the song continue ...  "and grace
MY FEARS RELIEVED."  Let all the people of God say:

"Amen" and press on in this spiritual journey  where God's
amazing grace will lead us safely home.
