Summerfield Shawl Ministry
Prayer Shawl Ministry Inaugurated at SUMC
Soft and warm, brightly colored and wooly shawls and lap robes will soon be comforting those who are in grief or suffering a personal or family crisis. Members of the UMW sponsored Women’s Study Group are forming a Prayer Shawl Ministry to knit and crochet along with women in similar groups all over the world.
Julie Carr recently finished her first beautiful shawl, and it was blessed and presented to Betsy Mc Chain, wife of our beloved member David, who passed away last month. Ruth Shock has also recently finished a shawl. During our Advent reading of Kaleidoscope: Seeing God’s Wit and Wisdom in a Whole New Light, written by Women of Faith author, Betsy Clairmont, others will be knitting and crocheting as we discuss her book. We will be meeting 11:45 am – 12:30 pm in the conference room following a short, post-worship coffee hour. A cup of hot soup will fill our stomachs while we fill our minds and hearts and our fingers fly.
