OBESITY IS NOT SIN - IDOLATRY IS SIN!

A shameful distortion of the scriptures has occurred.  Some people are saying obesity is a sin and they are using this scripture to support their agenda of health reform:

Deu 32:15 - But Jeshurun waxed fat, and kicked: thou art waxen fat, thou art grown thick, thou art covered [with fatness]; then he forsook God [which] made him, and lightly esteemed the Rock of his salvation.

JESHURUN WAS NOT AN OBESE MAN!  Jeshuran was a nation that had corrupted themselves. They were a perverse and crooked generation that turned from their Creator and Deliverer to do abominations and sacrifice to devils. They had become fools because they were unthankful, unfaithful and discontented in their prosperity.  

Context exposes the error, absurdity and carelessness of those health reformers:

Deuteronomy 32:16 They provoked him to jealousy with strange gods, with abominations provoked they him to anger.

JESHURAN is the poetic name for Israel meaning UPRIGHT, JUST, AND STRAIGHT.  Jesus, the Rock of Israel*, has that kind of character and expects His people to have it, too.  Instead, ancient Israel was covetous and lusted after evil things. In their wild and hilarious merrymaking, they committed fornication and made the golden calf --that is idolatry!

Instead of warning Christians to not repeat the sins of ancient Israel that destroyed 23,000 people in one day, those health reformers  wrested scriptures to make sin the trivial matter of what we eat or drink.  

The true Israel of God is upright, just, and straight.  The message the church needs to hear is we must be a holy people --or we will be destroyed, too!

“And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ. But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.
