THE SPIRIT OF CHRIST IS NOT THE HOLY SPIRIT!

THE SPIRIT OF CHRIST IS NOT THE HOLY SPIRIT!

Yvonne R. Lucas-Cessna wrote: "And Yeshua has that same Holy Spirit. :)"

Donna writes: Yeshua/Jesus has the Holy Spirit. He also has the Spirit of Christ. Here are Jesus’ own words. [In the verses, my comments are in the brackets.]

JOHN 14:15-20 NAS) John 14:15 If ye love me, keep My commandments.

16 I will ask the Father, and He will give you ANOTHER* HELPER**, that He may be with you forever; [“Another Helper” See Note below.]

17 that is the SPIRIT OF TRUTH, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him,

[“SPIRIT OF TRUTH ” is The Spirit of Jesus. He said: I am the way, and THE TRUTH, and the life.” John 14:6. The translators omitted “the”; correctly translated, it will read: Even the Spirit of the truth.] but you know Him because He abides with you and will be IN you.

18 I will not leave you as orphans ; I will come to you.

19 After a little while the world will no longer see Me, but you will see Me; because I live, you will live also.

20 In that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you.

* “ANOTHER” In John 14:16 above where Jesus said that the Father will give us “another helper”, John used the Greek word “allos” (243) which can only be used to express something that is different in number. (As opposed to “heteros” (2087) which is used to express something that is different in kind.). Therefore, in order for there to be “another “ Comforter, there must be more than one.

** “HELPER” From the Greek “Paracletos” (3875). The Bible clearly states that there are TWO “paracletos”. The first is the Holy Spirit as found in John 14:26:

26 "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.

The second “paracletos” is Jesus Himself as found in the First Epistle of John, 2:1

“ … And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate [Gk paracletos] with the Father, JESUS CHRIST the righteous;

That makes TWO! Now the question is: Does the believer actually receive both Helpers? Yes! Jesus said:

16 I will ask the Father, and He will give you ANOTHER* HELPER**, that He may be with you forever;

If you have one apple and you are given “another” apple, you have received TWO apples. When born-again we receive the first “Helper”, the Holy Spirit to teach us and then later when we have been tested and approved, we receive “another Helper”. the Spirit of Truth. (i.e. The Spirit of Jesus.) How do we know that the Spirit of truth is the Spirit of Jesus? The Greek text actually reads “The Spirit of THE TRUTH”. Jesus said of Himself: “I am …the truth”, therefore the Spirit of “the truth” is the Spirit of the Lord! (For more proof that “the truth” was a phrase commonly used to represent the Spirit of Jesus, see 2 John :1-2, 1 John 2:4, Heb 10:26)
