THE WILL OF GOD CONCERNING DIVORCE

THE WILL OF GOD CONCERNING DIVORCE

Sadly, there is a growing movement among those who keep the law of God to teach that God wants and even demands that spouses whose partners are participating in the most abominable sexual practices to remain married to them. They insist that when Jesus said there was an exception to the no divorce rule it only applied to those Jews who were "betrothed" in the culture of Israel under the law of God.

"According to this view, the exception of porneia [fornication] allows divorce only in the case of unfaithfulness during the betrothal period. By her infidelity, the betrothed girl had broken her agreement to marry, and consequently, the man could be released from his obligation to marry the girl since marriage had not yet been consummated. The exception clause would then apply only to the ancient Jewish betrothal practice and not to modern marriages." S.B.

Stop and think - they are saying that the wife of a man who practices homosexuality and may bring home awful diseases must remain married. They say that a man whose wife is a practicing prostitute has no choice - he must remain married. No matter what heinous sin you can imagine being committed - according to them the spouse must remain married.

However we can prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that it was never the intent of God for his people to remain married to a spouse involved in sexual sins. All we have to do is look at the reality of the situation of those who lived under the law of God in Israel. GOD ORDERED THAT THOSE WHO COMMITTED SEXUAL SIN WERE TO BE KILLED WHICH LEFT THE SPOUSE FREE TO MARRY AGAIN.

Anybody with an open mind can easily see that the mind of God was NOT set to force the spouse of those who commit sexual sin to remain married to those guilty of sexual immorality. Here are a few verses which prove beyond a reasonable doubt that God did KILL those who commit sexual sin. That is the revealed will of God for those who have "ears to hear".

Deu 22:22 If a man be found lying with a woman married to a husband, then they shall both of them die, the man that lay with the woman, and the woman: so shalt thou put away the evil from Israel.

Lev 20:10 And the man that committeth adultery with another man's wife, even he that committeth adultery with his neighbour's wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death.

And the man that lieth with his father's wife hath uncovered his father's nakedness: both of them shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

Lev 20:12 And if a man lie with his daughter in law, both of them shall surely be put to death: they have wrought confusion; their blood shall be upon them.

Lev 20:13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

Lev 20:14 And if a man take a wife and her mother, it is wickedness: they shall be burnt with fire, both he and they; that there be no wickedness among you.

Lev 20:15 And if a man lie with a beast, he shall surely be put to death:

Lev 20:16 And if a woman approach unto any beast, and lie down thereto, thou shalt kill the woman, and the beast: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

It is incredible that these sincere but misguided people who teach that there is no divorce allowed for the Christian are saying that if a man or woman does any of these things for which God demanded the death sentence - it does not matter - NOW God wants them to stay married. Any one who listens to them and remains married is actually going against the revealed will of God and will surely suffer.
