WHERE ARE EXPLICIT SCRIPTURES WHICH SUPPORT A SECOND RESURRECTION?
A SECOND RESURRECTION? What do you think?
A sister for whom I have respect stated that there will be a second resurrection and that people who were not called before Jesus returns will be given an opportunity to believe and have eternal life.
Quote: 1. "Unless they worship the beast or knowingly reject Him in this life they will be raised in the second resurrection to hear the truth and decide."
Quote 2. "So, those who are in ignorance as you say, will see and hear without satan's interference, at the second resurrection."
My reply:
I must disagree. The concept that all who were not called will be given an opportunity for salvation would contradict this statement:
Heb 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
Jesus said: " Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, and shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation." John 5:28-29
"...all in the graves...
"...done good...life"
"...done evil...damnation."
I do not see a third group which have done evil and are resurrected unto life again and given an opportunity to decide. As I understand it - the big picture is that the earth is a testing ground. God calls some men and tests them - those who pass the testing of their faith receive eternal life. When that process is complete the earth will be destroyed.
