THE ANT ON THE SERPENT'S TAIL
THE ANT ON THE SERPENT’S TAIL
(Satan hides so we won’t be wary and uses bait attractive to his prey)
The sidewinder is a rattlesnake of the Kalahari desert that throws its body forward with powerful serpentine loops. These powerful motions thrusts his body through the sand with great speed --especially, when he wants a gecho lizard for dinner.
The gecho is fast too; so when he escapes, the sidewinder resorts to deception. He wiggles into the sand until he becomes almost invisible Then, he pushes a tip of his tail up through the sand so it looks like a blade of grass and waits …
A gecho doesn’t eat grass, ants eat grass --and gechos eat ants! So, the ant on the serpent’s tail is bait for the gecho. When the gecho grasps the ant, he touches the sidewinder’s tail and is quickly caught and devoured.
The gecho lizard of the Kalahari desert shows how quickly a victim can be destroyed by deception. Satan is our enemy and like the sidewinder, he uses baits to seduce people to sin. Harlotry is a bait that he uses to entice people to disobey God. The Seventh Commandment says:
“Thou shalt not commit adultery.” Exodus 20:14
Adultery, incest, and sodomy are like the ant upon the serpent’s tail. They are enticing to the carnal man but are all devices of the hidden serpent. He patiently waits to destroy all who stop to dally with them. Being enticed by these temptations, you can be sure the hidden serpent is very near. Do not be deceived by flattering words, but listen to this warning to the church at Ephesus.
Ephesians 5:5 For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.
The sin of adultery rests upon the serpent’s tail. While there is yet time, make tracts; FLEE!
