*Thanksgiving Turkey Lessons
For Thanksgiving 2021, I purchased an 18 lb. Diestal Turkey from the Nugget, but Raley's in Galt has them as well. I bought it on Sunday, 5 days ahead. Next time just buy one a couple days ahead so I don't have to keep the frig so cold. We cooked it the full 4 hours.
I used the herb butter all over it, and it was a very nice brown. Next year, get a thermometer we an leave in there, or cut it open earlier. I put lemons, oranges and onions with the 3 herbs inside. Sage, rosemary and thyme.
Served with the orange/cranberry sauce I make.
Christina said I should serve stuffing, so I ran out and bought ready made stuffing.
Tibbetts brought their mashed potatoes in a casserole dish, but a crockpot would be useful to keep them warm as well.
Monica brought carrots and green beans already cooked and they were kept warm on the barbeque.
I made Chocolate Pecan Pie (Cook's magazine) for dessert!
