Jesus Good News For Us (Expanded)
Jesus' Good News for Us
(1) Why Jesus Came: John 10:10 “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” NIV (John 10:10 means verse 10 in chapter 10 of the Gospel of John) NIV
God's Gift For Us: John 4:10,13 "Jesus replied, “If you only knew the gift God has for you and who you are speaking to, you would ask me, and I would give you living water. ... giving them eternal life.”
(2) Which Includes: Matthew 6:33 “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.” NLT
Adoption: John 1:12-13 " But to all who believed him (Jesus) and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. 13 They are reborn—not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God." NLT
(3) But Our Problem is Sin: Isaiah 59:2 “It’s your sins that have cut you off from God. Because of your sins, he has turned away and will not listen anymore.” NLT
(4) So Christ Paid Our Penalty: 1 Peter 3:18 “Christ suffered for our sins once for all time. He never sinned, but he died for sinners to bring you safely home to God. He suffered physical death, but he was raised to life in the Spirit” NLT
Romans 5:8 "But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners." NLT
(5) So We Could Have Salvation: Luke 1:77 “You will tell his people how to find salvation through forgiveness of their sins.” NLT
Matthew 1:21 “She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” NIV
John 1:29 “The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” NIV
(6) Our Part: We Must Believe: Romans 3:22-25 “We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are. For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins. For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood.“ NLT
John 3:14-16 “And as Moses lifted up the bronze snake on a pole in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, so that everyone who believes in him will have eternal life. “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” NLT
(7) And Repent: Luke 13:3 “And you will perish, too, unless you repent of your sins and turn to God.” NLT
Acts 3:29 “Now repent of your sins and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped away.” NLT
(8) And Make Jesus our _______ and ______”: John 20:27-28 (Jesus speaking) “Believe!” “My Lord and my God!” Thomas exclaimed.”
Romans 10:9 “If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
Colossians 2.6 "just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him." NLT
(9) TELL God “I rely only on what Jesus has done on the cross rather than on my good works to save me. I repent and will live to follow and serve Jesus. Thank you for your adoption, help, forgiveness, and heaven”.
(10) Assurance of Salvation - 1 John 2.3-4 “we can be SURE that we know him if we obey his commandments. If someone claims, “I know God,” but doesn’t obey God’s commandments, that person is a liar and is not living in the truth.” NLT
