(B1) Repent - Matthew 5:1-2 "Now when Jesus saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him, 2 and he began to teach them."  NIV

 

(B2) Matthew 4:17 "From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand."  ESV

 

(C1) Depend Only on God: (poor in spirit)- Matthew 5:3 "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."  NIV

 

(C2) For Salvation - Luke 18:9-14 "To some who were confident of their own righteousness and looked down on everyone else, Jesus told this parable: (10) “Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. (11) The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other people—robbers, evildoers, adulterers—or even like this tax collector. (12) I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.’ (13) “But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’ (14) “I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”  NIV

 

(C3) For Everything Else - Philippians 4:6-7 "Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. (7) And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus."  CSB 

 

(D1) Mourn & Repent (mourn) - Matthew 5:4 "Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted."  NIV

 

(D2) Proverbs 28:13 "You will never succeed in life if you try to hide your sins. Confess them and give them up; then God will show mercy to you."  GNT

 

(E1) Humble & Gentle (meek) - Matthew 5:5 "Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth."  NIV

 

(E2) Ephesians 4:2 "Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love."  NLT

 

(F1) Hunger to live as God requires (hunger for righteousness)- Matthew 5:6 "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled." NIV

 

(F2) John 4.34  My nourishment comes from doing the will of God, who sent me, and from finishing his work. NLT

 

(G1) Compassionate & Forgiving (merciful)- Matthew 5:7 "Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy." NIV

 

(G2) Ephesians 4:32 "Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you."  NIV

 

(H1) Pure Life (pure)- Matthew 5:7 "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God."  NIV

 

(H2) Psalm 119:9-11 "How can a young person maintain a pure life? By guarding it according to your instructions. (10) With all my heart I seek you. Do not allow me to stray from your commands. (11) In my heart I store up your words, so I might not sin against you."  NET

 

(I1) Peacemaker with Others & God (peacemakers) - Matthew 5:8 "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God." NIV

 

(I2) Matthew 5:23-24 "Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you, 24 leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift."  NIV

 

(J1) Rejoice in Persecution (persecuted because of righteousness) - Matthew 5:9 "Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." NIV

 

(J2) Matthew 5:10-11 "Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you."  NIV
