Why Backup Your Device?
If you already save the majority of your information in cloud-based storage Why is it vital to create a permanent back-up of your devices? There are many times I receive comments from people who say that they keep all their data in iCloud, Dropbox or another cloud-based storage service. This makes it simple to not feel the need to create a permanent backup of their iOS devices or their computer.
It's true that cloud-based storage services are fantastic for keeping your most important documents safe, but that's not all that's involved in backing up your information. Based on my experience, the process of restoring everything on your computer or phone is an absolute nightmare when the only place your data is stored is the cloud.
Due to the nature the work I do, I need to frequently restore my iPhone or Mac as new in order to write detailed instructions on how to start fresh, restoring backups and performing clean installation of operating systems. It's something I hate but it's what I do because love you and want you to be familiar with the proper steps.
Believe me when I tell you that it can be frustrating and exhausting to rebuild the iPhone, iPad or Mac from scratch. You can access documents, photos as well as other data stored in cloud-based storage solutions.
Where are my apps?
The issue with starting on a new device isn't the fact that you've lost all your data, but rather that all your apps are gone. You can download all those .doc files from Dropbox however, you won't be able to open them until you've installed the word processing software.
Although your photos may be safe stored in OneDrive you will need to find the photo editing software you love again and download it once more. Your internet connection will be affected when you attempt to download multiple files onto your Mac. It takes time and it could hinder your productivity. Stop being so bizarre
Another major issue when you have to begin from scratch the beginning is that you'll lose all your settings. For the iPhone it is necessary to register your fingerprint to Touch ID or your face for Face ID, which can take a long time.
It is also necessary to reinstall and set-up any custom ringtones you have created and assign the ringtones to your contacts in the event that you have done it individually. If you want to access the photos on your iPhone it is necessary to activate iCloud Photo Library.
Quicksand can be described as walking through quicksand.
It's extremely frustrating to be forced to restart on your Mac, iPhone, or iPad and then download content from the cloud services that you cherish so often. If you're looking to show your dad that cute photo of his nephew, you could invite him to stay for dinner, as it's likely be a long time before everything is restored to your phone again.
