Right now, I’m reading a lot about couples therapy. Or family therapy, maybe? Either way, I need it. Our relationship problems are a nightmare. We just don’t understand each other at the moment. But I love! And I’m sure I’m loved. Still, it’s all so complicated, confusing, constant conflicts, like we expect too much from each other.

In cases like this, and I’ve had them, of course, I always start by asking myself a question. Are the relationships like this because they’ve run their course, don’t make sense to me anymore, and I don’t feel comfortable in them? Or are the relationships like this because we’re going through a rough patch, even though I really love the person, care about them, and fear losing them? Understanding that difference is super important, because the best thing to do in the first case is to leave, and in the second case, either see a therapist or try to work through it yourself. There’s a good article here about our love languages, how we love and how we express love. From my experience, most conflicts happen because of misunderstandings, since we’re talking about the same thing but each person in their own language.
