    This presentation offers an overview of faith-based foster care for families and church ministries by:

  • Sharing the need for Christ-centered foster care in churches
  • Outlining the process of foster care certification
  • Helping develop a training plan for each church

3.  * FASD and Brain-Based Behaviors (2 hours)

    This presentation shows the devastating effect alcohol consumption has on very early fetal development and long-term wellbeing of a child born with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Disorder by:


  • Explaining the results of FASD and brain physiology
  • Identifying characteristics of a FASD child
  • Discovering how alcohol consumed during any trimester can be devastating
  • Understanding how behaviors can be linked to damaged or altered brain development
  • Highlighting the implications a FASD diagnosis and mis-diagnosis have on society
  • Developing a parenting model for foster parents that care for FASD children
  • Helping mediate the realities and difficulties of FASD for providers
  • Sharing tools for better community awareness and prevention of FASD


4.  * Trauma-Informed Care and the Church (2 hours)

    This training is designed to help pastors, youth and children’s ministers; better understand the aspects of trauma-informed care and how it has a direct implication for ministry within the church by:


  • Explaining the trauma-informed paradigm
  • Taking a look at how trauma (past and present) relates to the gospel
  • Understanding the relationship between trauma and behavior
  • Relating best practices of a trauma informed ministry model
  • Sharing results of the ACE Study and implications this has for the church
  • Identifying possible behavioral indicators of child abuse
  • Helping provide ministers with an understanding of vicarious and secondary traumatization
  • Building a ministry model of TIC for each church


5.  * Soul Shop for Congregations: Ministering to Those Impacted by Suicidal Desperation (1 hour)

    This training attempts to address suicide from a biblical perspective, while offering ministers needed tools and understanding to better minister to their congregations and communities by:


  • Showing the prevalence of suicide in Kentucky
  • Relating a biblical narrative of suicidal ideation
  • Helping ministers to grasp the driving forces behind suicidal ideation within the church
  • Working through differing theological understandings of suicide for the church
  • Sharing relative information to better minister to families and communities impacted by suicide.
  • Working through the taboo of language to better minister to the human condition
  • Offering hope for those who have been impacted by suicide


6.  * Ministers Walking the Plank (1 hour)

    This training highlights the daily reality of stressors for many ministers who are enduring seasons of compassion fatigue and burnout, in an attempt to offer support and healing by:


  • Defining compassion fatigue and burnout
  • Identifying common sources of burnout for ministers
  • Understanding the process of compassion fatigue for ministry
  • Outlining protective barriers for effective long-term ministry
  • Seeking to address the emotional challenges that often lead to ministry burnout
  • Developing a plan for protection against burnout and compassion fatigue in your church


7.  * Parents of Promise and Transformational Parenting (2 hours)

    A helpful training for Christian parents to become more effective parents in today’s world by:


  • Seeking biblical guidance in understanding parental roles
  • Offering insight into effective discipline that encourages personal growth
  • Understanding why negative behaviors often occur
  • Providing practical tools for age-appropriate parenting
  • Relating aspects of differing parenting styles
  • Sharing relational techniques that help calm emotional outbursts
  • Teaching the power of parental role modeling


8.  * ABC’s of Behavior (2 hours)

    This training offers practical tools and information for children’s workers by:


  • Discussing the different aspects of classroom behavior
  • Sharing the ABC paradigm of behavior management
  • Understanding how Adverse Childhood Experiences can affect behavior
  • Developing the “think-feel-do” model of behavioral interactions
  • Showing how to use consequences more effectively
  • Unwrapping different parenting models for classroom use
  • Realizing the power one positive relationship can make for a child


9.  * Parenting the Sexually-Abused Child (2 hours)

    This training is designed to help parents (and ministers) better understand the challenges of parenting a child that has experienced sexual abuse by:


  • Understanding child sexual abuse
  • Identifying possible behavioral indicators of child sexual abuse
  • Responding to common behaviors of sexually abused children
  • Discovering how sexual abuse effects a child’s basic needs
  • Sharing how children of sexual abuse can heal


10.  * The Child Protection Initiative: Ministering to Those Impacted by Child Abuse and Neglect (3 hour Webinar)

    This is a multi-discipline training that enables church leaders to:


  • Improve the ability of church leaders in identifying and understanding the devastating effects of child abuse and neglect
  • Gain insight into the long-term influences of early trauma
  • Identify behavioral indicators of child maltreatment reflected in children’s behaviors
  • Form an awareness of the impact child abuse affects churches of all denominations
  • Develop a 4-step plan for responding to allegations of child abuse in the church that includes: investigate, cooperate, report and minister
  • Shape a strategy to ensure greater safeguards for children, staff members, and the church’s reputation
  • Consider how to better minister to children and families with traumatic histories
  • Understand how trauma-focused therapy can be applied from a Christian perspective
  • Increase the ability to refer individuals and families to a regional therapist that holds a Christian worldview

  • Looking into the effect of trauma on brain physiology

    This training offers a deeper look at the mysterious diagnosis(es) of Bi-Polar Disorder and Depression by:


  • Understanding the definition of Depression and Bi-Polar Disorder
  • Realizing the implications of living with mood disorder
  • Taking a glimpse into how Bi-Polar Disorders can add additional stressors on family functioning
  • Discovering resources that can offer hope for you and the Bi-Polar home
