Bill and Vivian Eakin visit tom and Marie pART 2
On Tuesday the 18th, Marie and i met Bill and Vivian at their hotel, and drove to Laguna Beach where we parked our car in the "suburbs" and started riding the free shuttle to see some of the sights. We had a nice lunch and then went to the beach.
Bill using the digital camera to capture a memory or two.
Vivian is getting ready to walk into the surf.
Trying to time the waves.
The wave gets her!
In the midst of all this she gets a call from home! I was wondering about the hazard of using an electronic device while standing in the water!!
Looking North along the beach.
Waiting for the sand on her legs to dry so it can be brushed off.
Bill is waiting for Vivian's shoes to dry.
Now we are waiting for the shuttle back to the parking lot.
Nest Marie drove us to the "Mission San Jaun Capistrano", which has improved significantly over what it was when I was last herre.
There are a number of interesting museum rooms depicting the early days.
The Mission was founded in 1776, and a large stone church was started in 1797, and finished 9 years later. It was the largest stone church West of the Mississippi. I am amazed at the huge size, and the stone workmanship. Sadly it was demolished by a large earthquake, just 6 years later, in 1812.
Then we had a delightful dinner on the patio of the nearby Cedar Creek Inn.
Bill and Vivian flew home the next day. We had a grand time together and look forward to their next visit.
