YIKES! Looks cold, but glad you found a spot to swim. Do you wear a wet suit? You have inspired me to do more exercise and be disciplined about it. Thanks so much for sharing!

no wet suit, the water is a pleasant 65F! This year the ocean water and SF bay water is warmest in decades, it would usually be 62 this time of year.

Why is the point called "dead man's point"? :)
How long does it take you to swim the 1/2 mile?

I swam it again today!
Dozens of sailing ships hit reefs and rocks off of dead man's point from the Gold Rush through probably the 1920's. The white 'can' or point out in the ocean used to be a light house finally built in ~1905 after about 150 people died when their ship sank in 8 minutes just behond that point.
I don't have very precise swimming times because there are lots of variables, but in my hey day of triathlons I did 1 mile swim in 30 min with a wetsuit (that speeds you up, it is bouyant). But ocean water is bouyant too. But there's the wind and swell and chop... I probably do a mile in the ocean or bay in about 40-50 min.
