The Liffey River where the Vikings from Norway and Denmark invaded and intermarried with the Irish in this part of Ireland.  The city of Dublin (dark pool) was founded in 841 AD.

It looks like it was a bright sunny day the day you took most of these pics.  I love the bright doors,  why do they paint them like that?

I believe that the colorful doors and houses "reflect the pride the Irish have in keeping their surroundings in a state befitting the extraordinary beauty of their country, and their bright, fun-loving nature".(though it has been said that " their houses are painted bright colors in order to help their owners find them after a hard night's drinking in a local pub!"--from The Magic & Mystery of Ireland
