25 "La Fiesta de La Santa Cruz"
25 "La Fiesta de La Santa Cruz"
This is a fiesta, holiday celebrated every year. The legend is that the indegeous tribes were fighting with the Spainards, just continuously fighting, then one day they saw a giant cross in the clouds, they took it as a sign to stop fighting, so this cross in the sky brought peace. So, every year on the 13 of September, they have a huge parade, carry crosses, and dress up as the indians and spanish, and parade through the town, doing dances as well, ending with going into the cathedral to say thank you to god. It is a way for the indegeouns community to keep some of their culture. It was quite an experience and I was thankful to see it.
