"For the kingdom of God is NOT MEAT AND DRINK; but
righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost." Romans 14:17
The original covenant that God made with ancient Israel had no laws of food and drink. The covenant that was ratified by the blood of Jesus does not have laws of food and drink. Nevertheless, Paul teaches us in Galatians 5:21 that drunkenness is a work of the flesh that must not be continued.
“Envyings, murders, DRUNKENNESS, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.” Galatians 5:21
Drunkenness is not a sin that transgresses the law of God. It is a work of the flesh that must be put to death because IT WILL MOST CERTAINLY CAUSE A PERSON TO SIN. Drunkenness opens the door to committing murder, adultery, stealing etc. Godly teachers will always give the same warning as the apostle: “… they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.”
Rom 8:13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
